Located in the heart of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Carpenter’s Shop is one of the North Shore’s most highly regarded childcare programs. Our christian curriculum is aimed at children six weeks to twelve years old. While we stress social, cognitive, emotional and motor development, our ultimate goal is to help your child become a caring, loving and responsive individual — well equipped to tackle the school years ahead.

Averaging more than 6 years of childcare experience, our teachers are some of the very best. Every teacher has college or state level training in either Child Education or a closely related field. In keeping with our state licensing requirements, we also mandate 25 hours of in-service training each year on topics such as: CPR/First Aid, ADHD, SIDS, and bullying. It is very important to us that our teachers stay current.

We strongly encourage our parents to get involved and provide numerous opportunities to do so through family activities. We have an open-door policy and encourage parents to drop-in at any time. We believe in the importance of two-way communication and provide written daily progress reports for children 3 and under, and verbal reports for older children. We also produce a monthly newsletter, Parent Connection.

While we offer 5 day-a-week, full day childcare coverage, we also have space for children with more flexible scheduling needs. Please see our rates & admission info for more details about our part-time opportunities. Additionally, for our school age children, we provide transportation to and from our local schools via our dedicated transportation service.

Established in 1989, Carpenter’s Shop is a non-profit ministry of the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay. Our daycare classrooms, are located within the church building, itself. We welcome families and children of all faiths as it is not a prerequisite to belong to the church to attend our daycare.

We are licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services and supervised by a licensing representative. This means that we are subject to periodic, unannounced visits to ensure that we comply with all laws and daycare regulations.

Here at Carpenter’s Shop we feel truly blessed! We are blessed by the wonderful families in our program, by the caring support of the United Methodist Church and most importantly, by the outstanding teachers and staff who love and care for our children every day.
